Thursday Post 1

I thought I would post this morning since it has been a few days since my last post.  I am at the Oncology Infusion Center waiting on Steve's appointment.  He had labs at 7:30 this  morning.  That means we left the house at 6:45, and I got up at 5;30.  They got him right in so we should be running on time this morning.  We meet with Phyllis Stout at 8:30.  I forgot that Dr. Hoos and Faith are on vacations.  We should see Dr. Hoos next time.

It has been a pretty eventful week.  Yesterday, Elizabeth and Steve went to Lockwood with Grandma and Grandpa to have Grandma's birthday lunch with Uncle Melbert and Aunt Doris.  They went to Cookie's, a restaurant in Golden City, which is close to Lockwood.  It seems the place to go, and Steve says, "everyone knows where Cookie's is".  So, if I have insulted your intelligence, I am sorry.  I personally have never been there so I ASSUME there are others that may not know about it.  They had an excellent lunch.  They had brisket.  Elizabeth had some strawberry rhubarb pie that she really liked.  Jerry came along too, and Steve said it was really nice catching up with him.

Uncle Al, your name came up and I have a few questions I am supposed to ask you.... I am wondering if your ears were burning yesterday about lunch time.  Grandma and Aunt Doris got to talking about the cows you used to show.  They talked about how you were so proud of them and "paraded" them around the front yard at the farm.  Grandma and Aunt Doris got giggles out of remembering.  They were  stumped when it came to how did you get the cows to the shows?  They couldn't figure it out since Grandpa Lampe didn't have a trailer or truck.  Only you can answer the questions to this unsolved mystery.

I went to Springfield on Tues. eve and had my gray covered up.  I am now a light brown headed with highlights.  Steve says I look 10 years younger.  This is good because if you add that to the twenty years younger that the new cut made me look, I now look like I am seventeen.  HA HA.  That will never happen.  I do like it.  It is always funny to see the reactions of my students.  Some come right out and ask, "Did you color your hair?" while others will beat around the bush about it.  "Mrs. Doss, did you do something different to your hair?" or "You look different today."  Some even come right out and give their opinions, " I love it." and my favorite, " I liked the old way better."  Kids seem to think they can be brutally honest with their teachers.  They comment on clothes, jewelry, nail polish, makeup, shoes, and even perfume.  I guess that is a good thing because they feel comfortable enough that you will still "love" them no matter what they say.

Steve and Elizabeth have been playing "Top Shot".  They have been target practicing out the sliding glass door in the bedroom.  They were shooting one of Steve's 22 rifles.  They were shooting at Shoot and See circular targets.  They got a kick out of the competition.  Steve won on the open sight, and Elizabeth won on the scope.  They have big plans for more competitions in the future.  We are trying to copy some of the trick shots that they have on the show.  I'll let you know how that goes.

Koleen comes home later today unless she decides to stay for her Friday morning class.  We shall see what she decides to do.  I know she really wants to come home, so my guess is she will be here today.  Ideally, you would think that she would stay, but if you have read her blog, you know that she will probably hop in her car as soon as class is done today.  She is ready for a nice Spring Break.

I'll post again tonight to let you know how chemo and the appointment goes.
