It is now 10:24, and I am just getting into bed. I have been up and going since 6 this morning. Steve wanted to go to a flea market/rummage sale at a huge building in Springfield this morning. It opened at 8 so we left Mt. Vernon at 7:30. When we got there, there was a line of over 100 people ahead of us. After about 10 minutes in the cold morning air, we were admitted. It was a huge show. We walked up and down the rows checking out the wares. I am sad to report, we did not purchase anything. It was fun looking at all the stuff. Steve did a good job walking. I think the crowd got to him, but he made the whole show. It was about 45 minutes or so. After that, we went to FM Fabric Store on Sunshine. Elizabeth purchased material to make two dresses. They will be great when she finishes them. They are batiks in kind of a hippy mode. Elizabeth will look wonderful in them. I bought some material to make a dress, jacket and shirt. The material there is great and it is very reasonably priced. In fact, you get the best deals there. They have some very unique materials there.
After that, we came home. Steve and Elizabeth rested, and I worked on a couple of sewing projects. I finished a vest that I made from an old dress I had that I no longer wore. I also finished a new vest for spring. Both turned fine. In fact, I wore the remake vest to the game tonight. Around 4 we left to head to Sencea for the Mt. Vernon boys and girls games. They both were very good games. Both won. They are district champs. The girls beat Ash Grove, and the boys beat East Newton. The girls won by several points. The boys squeaked past by 2. I think they will play in Willard next although I do not know the date.
I am so proud of Steve for all his activity today. He made it though both games and seemed to enjoy the games too. It kills him when they do things that he thinks they shouldn't....fouling, stupid shots, arguing with their coaches. He is always commenting on how it was back in his day. Like I have said before, I sure wish I could have seen him play. One thing that really drives him crazy is the way the kids talk to the refs during the game. Also, sometimes how they react to things in the game. For example, there was this player on East Newton that was acting up. The coach had to get in his face several times. "Back when I played, if you acted like that, the coach would set you on the bench." Of course, they guy played almost the complete game. My, times have changed. :)
He is asleep now. I am guessing that he will sleep all night and possibly all day tomorrow. I know he is worn out. It does him good to get out, but I know it totally wears him down. A day or two of resting, and he will be ready to tackle anything.
