Active Thursday

Before I start telling you about today, I need to let you see the podium that Steve made for me.  I have used it everyday this week and love it.

I realize that these pictures do not do it justice.  I will take some different pictures to show you the details, shelves and the beautiful grain of the wood.  I am so proud of this.

Today was a busy day for us.  Steve had chemo this morning.  His lab was at 7:30, doctor appointment at 8:30, and then his treatment.  He did not see Dr. Hoos.  He saw a Nurse practitioner, Phyllis.  His lab numbers were good.  They did say he was a little anemic, but that is really nothing new.  It is a usual thing for chemo patients.  We just need to be overly careful with winter coming.  Elizabeth and Justin rode up to Springfield with him.  Before his next treatment, he has to have another scan.  They have not scheduled it yet.  His next treatment is the Thursday after the wedding ( Oct. 6).  He will meet with Dr. Hoos then to discuss the results of the scan.  Tonight Steve seems to be doing well.  He slept this afternoon and some this evening.  He is up watching television now.  His face does not seem as red a usual, but sometimes it is hard to tell.  He did get a B12 shot, which he get every 12 weeks.  We are hoping that this will help him deal with the treatment.  We do not want him to have a bad reaction and a bad week.

I went to a MU Alumni event tonight.  It was great fun.  It was at a dear friend's house.  She did a wonderful job.  The refreshments featured Mt. Vernon products.  Of course, I thought the wine and the Wind and Willow desserts were the best.  It was nice to see some people that I don't get to see very often.  I brought a MU cup home to Aubree and I thought she was going to have a tiger.  She was jumping up and down and yelling, "Go Tigers."  She does love her Tigers.  I'll tell you, once she understands sports, I will have a great football watching buddy.  I am lucky that she loves MU as much as I do.  We love it so much that she thinks we need some Tiger jammie pants.  Can you imagine!  If I can keep her enthusiasm up for 14 more years, I might have another MU freshman and then another graduate.  Can't wait!!!

While I was gone, Aubree had a little accident.  She smashed her thumb in the car door.  It is dinged up, but she was better after a Sonic ice cream cone. On a brighter note, she has been riding her bike without training wheels.  She rode for Opa and me this afternoon.  At first she had a difficult time starting, but she got the knack of it and off she went.  She rode all over the long drive and even into the yard several times.  She can take her bike off road.
See the small dot at the end of the driveway?  That is our rider, Aubree.  A long way from the top of the driveway.

Who needs a road?   I can take my bike anywhere I want.  Off road?  Of course!!!
Look at me go with no training wheels.
