Will the heat ever end?

It is Saturday evening in hotter than h--- Mt. Vernon.  Oh, my gosh.  It has been hovering around 100 degrees for several days.  It was hot here while we were gone on our vacation, and there is no relief in site. Needless to say, it is miserable outside.  With that said, we were outside yesterday.  We took the boat up to Stockton Lake for the afternoon.  We were on the water maybe 2 hours.  We swam and tried to get Koleen and Shawn up on the wakeboard.  Neither one could manage to get up.  I must say it is difficult to do.  Steve was in the water for around 20 minutes.  It was nice and "cool".  He wanted to try the wakeboard but thought it would be an unwise choice.  Thank God.  I know the strain on his side would have killed him.  We thought it would be crowded, be we only saw three other boats.  The water was glass.  I had a good time just on the floatie in the water.  That is my idea of a good day at the lake.

Steve is really tired today.  I think the trip and the lake wore him out.  We have just been relaxing and watching a marathon of American Ninja Warrior.  Talk about good times.  The new season starts July 31. Weeeee!

A quick report on Samurai.  He is doing fine.  We have not noticed any abnormal hair loss.  I will say that he is very sticky...meaning that he follows us around the house.  I think he is afraid we will leave him again.  He has been a good boy.  He has been kenneling when we say.  That means he goes to his condo (inside dog kennel) when we say "kennel".  I am glad.  It gets old playing tag when he doesn't want to go into it.

We have been watering the flowers because of the heat.  Steve has been upset with his tomato plants.  He caught a huge worm eating his semi-ripe ones and stripping the leaves.  Needless to say, he picked it and splatted it on the slab.  That made him happy.  He has a bunch of cherry tomatoes that hopefully will ripen soon, but he does not have any larger tomatoes on the other plants.

The girls have had a busy weekend.  Amelia went with us to the lake yesterday, and then she and Jeff went to Silver Dollar City.  Elizabeth did not go to the lake.  She and Justin had plans.  Then they went to the creek today.  Koleen and Shawn went to the lake with us, and then went to Springfield to spend the day with her dad.  Tomorrow, we have Grandpa's birthday dinner.
