Rainbow

We had a beautiful day today, but it rained again this evening.  This is the beautiful rainbow out the bedroom window to the east.  It was around 7:00 pm and it lasted quite some time.  We think it is the brightest one we have seen.

We went to Springfield this afternoon after school.  I had a hair appointment.  Beth, my hair dresser, sure fixed my hair nice.  I only hope I can make it look like this again.  Steve got his hair cut this morning.  It also looks nice.  We didn't spend much time up there.  We went to eat and then came home.

We are watching Deadliest Catch new season.  I really like this show.  My only complaint is they are really playing some of the whining since they are have bad luck this season.  None of the boats are on the crab yet.  They have a couple new boat called the SeaBrooke and Ramblin' Rose that I am not very fond of.  Still love the Time Bandit and Northwestern.

Steve had a restful day today.  Outside of getting his hair cut, he just rested.  He did pick up a blue spruce for the yard.  He is still undecided where he wants to put it.  One choice is a the point where the "back yard" meets our "meadow".  This is basically in the middle of the back yard.  The other spot is to the north of our garage.  He was wanting to put a flag pole there so this might be his alternative to that idea.   He is going to have Elizabeth help him dig the hole and plant it.  The ground is a little wet and right now it will be a muddy mess.  Hopefully the ground will be dried up before Thursday.

These are some pictures of the golden finch that have come to the bird tree.  We probably have 100 or more at a time.  I, of course, do not ever have the camera handy when there are that many on the tree or in the grass around the tree.  We also have 20 martins.  Last night we saw the strangest thing.  Steve thought it was a large bat, but it was a martin without a tail.  It was pretty exciting here for a few minutes while we thought we were being invaded by huge "killer" bats.  To clarify the story, it was almost dark out and almost impossible to see the birds.  It finally landed on the house pole and I went out and sure enough it was a tail less martin.  Kind of freaky.  We were discussing how it could fly so well without a tail.
