Today I went to the Veteran's Home to visit my friend, Betty. She went on the Ozark Honor Flight to Washington DC on Wednesday. She had a good time but said it was a very very long day. They left around 4 in the morning and didn't get back to the home until midnight or so. Their return flight was rerouted to avoid the storm. She was so excited telling me about her trip. She lived there during the war so it was a bit of a trip down memory lane. I asked her if she would go again, and she said no because it was the hurry up and wait game. The sights were wonderful, but the timing was not good for her. She did wish that her husband had been able to go before he passed away. He was in the European Theatre and took part in many of the major battles. He would have been so proud to make this trip.
We went to Joplin after lunch. We went to Joplin Pool and Spa to get some chemicals for our hot tub. We started to go down Rangeline to I-44 but it was pouring and the traffic was terrible. I also did not want to see the wreckage in person. I think it would have upset me. We went to Petland to get Samurai some food. We saw a puppy Akita there. I really wanted to take her home with us, but the last thing we need in another dog and puppy to boot. So, she is still there. It rained so hard while we were in Joplin and then on the way home. People are so foolish when they drive in the rain. On I-44 it was amazing how many cars were driving 40 miles an hour. I am also surprised that there were no accidents. I can't tell you how many times we had to hit our brakes because people would just drop their speed.
Steve did not get his nap today. He is really tired and back in the bedroom resting. I think will be asleep soon if he is not already gone. His stings are just red spots now. I wish I know what but got him. This weather has been playing havoc with his feet. They have been so swollen and sore with this rainy weather. We can't seem to find a way to ease the pain and swelling. I feel sorry for him.
We don't have plans for this weekend. Usually we go to the lake to boat and camp. I know that he misses those activities, but now we are just unable to do them. I think we will take it easy and start resting up for our big trip. We have to decide what to pack and how to pack it.
