Appointment

We are back from our appointment and chemo.  We had a 1:40 lab, 2:40 Dr's visit and then chemo.  Well, they were over 1 hour behind.  We got our lab on time but it was after 3:30 before we say Dr. Hoos.  Let me tell you, we were really getting tired in the waiting room and then in the exam room.  Dr. Hoos came in with the best tie ever.  It was a green, blue, and yellow flowered Vera Bradley.  He said it was from his girls.  Steve's numbers were good and all his counts were fine.  We got his test results back today too.  The fluid that has been around his right lung is dissipating, which is good.  He has a new spot on his lung, but they are unsure what it is.  Dr. Hoos said it could be from his cold that he just got over or something else.  He said it was about the size of the tip of his little finger. We just have to watch it since the scan does not allow us to tell what it is exactly.  If it is from his cold, it will be gone his next round of tests.  If it is still there, then we will have to tackle that issue then.  Our first visit to Dr. Hoos  was April 29 last year.   We asked about his cough, and Dr. Hoos said that the best thing was for him to cough and get the "stuff" up and out.  He said it is worse in the morning because it settles while he sleeps and when he starts to move around, it moves around too.  He did not seem very concerned about it even when I told him he coughed so hard he sometimes got sick.  It is part of his sickness.  He says to get it out is better than it sitting in there.  We go back for our next treatment on June 2.  It is 4 weeks out instead of the regular 21 days.  This will work around the summer's schedule.

We went to Wickman Gardens on the way to our appointment.  We picked up a Jim Dandy #2 male winterberry bush.  Steve wanted a burning bush so we picked up on of those too.  It should be pretty this weekend so we should get a chance to plant both of them.  It is supposed to be in the 70s if not higher.  Of course, it will rain on Sunday since it rained Easter Sunday...7 weeks of whatever weather there is on Easter Sunday.  It rained while we were in Springfield this afternoon.  At Mt. Vernon, we got 3/10 of an inch.  I have no idea what Grandma got.  :)  I did not hear what Steve said when he talked to his mamma.

We are resting now.  You know chemo really makes Steve tired.  He will sleep well tonight.  Last night, he went to bed a 6:30 and slept until my alarm when off at 5:30 am.  We went to dinner at Grandma's and he was so tired after dinner that we came straight home.  He has been working in the yard and mowing so I know he is worn out at the end of the day.

Tomorrow is Track Day for the sixth grade.  We will be participating in track event and other things like wheel barrel races, three legged race, medicine ball throw, softball throw and others.  It is supposed to be nice so that won't be bad.  High schoolers come and help us out.  Actually, they run it and we just supervise the day.  Third, fourth, and fifth graders come to this day too.  I hope the nice weather holds so we can have a good day.  The kids really like this time.
