Like I told you yesterday, we probably would wake up early: we did (even before the wake up call) We ate a good breakfast at this little cafe on campus. Steven did really well in devouring eggs, hash browns and B/G. Our first appointment was with the financial advisor and MD Anderson welcomer. All went well. We were pleased when she said that we had good insurance...one less thing to worry about. We were an hour early and they saw us. We were on a roll. Our next appointment was a complete pulmonary test. Steve had to sit in a box and suck, blow and hold his breath. This took about an hour or so. He was a little tired after it. Our next appointment was blood work. They got us in early too. They did not use his port because they keep saying that it wasn't already accessed with tubes sticking out. We are a little confused because we understood that there would be no tubes and they just stuck the needle into the port. Oh, well. We are planning on asking the Dr. about it tomorrow morning. He also had a chest x-ray at this location. Our final location was the ROC...Radiation Outpatient Clinic. It is located across the street from the hotel. We walked there since it was nice and we didn't want to wait on a shuttle. I pushed Steve in his wheelchair...Note to self...watch out for the pot holes in the side walk and street next time. He is not hurt and we did not crash but it was pretty close. The sidewalk was offset where it connected to the street at the crosswalk. Next time, I'll know. At the ROC he had a CT Scan. He had to drink this nasty liquid before he went in. It was mocha flavored or so they claim. He had to have an IV and a tube in his behind. He loved that part of the test...not.
Tomorrow should be a fairly easy day. We have an appointment with Dr. Rice the head mesotheleomia guru at 10:00 and then another orientation at the Learning Center at 2:00. Hopefully, there is a nap in the future.
We are now back at the Rotary House. Their Internet is out so we are in the business center. Sorry no pictures. I forgot my cable to the camera in the room nine floors up. I'll catch you up tomorrow. We are headed up to the room for some much needed and earned rest.
We sure wish we were home. Houston is a nice place to visit, but we wouldn't want to live here.
