Today was a good day for us. Steve is feeling pretty good for the day after chemo. His face is still red, and he is fatigued, but he is fighting through it. Steve got up and watered the flower pots while it was still cool. I went to coffee with my friends. After coffee, I ran errands with Amelia. Aubree had Water Fun Day at King's Way and there was no way she wanted to hang with us when she could do Slip and Slides, sprinklers, water balloons, and wading pools. She was soooo excited Amelia said she got up at 6:00 and wanted to go. When Amelia dropped her off at KW, Aubree didn't even cry or kiss her goodbye. She was off for some water fun.
Steve also mowed some today. He promised me when he got too hot, he would come in. Funny how he was not too hot until the front yard was done. He did wear his big brimmed hat, so I am sure that helped. Once again, the yard looks nice. Oh, speaking of yard...tonight during dinner, I looked out the kitchen window and Mamma Turkey had her babies in the yard. They were right up by the bird tree, maybe 20 yards from the house. She had 12 little ones. What a group. They were so fun to watch as they crossed the yard and headed towards the field. We are going to get some corn so hopefully she will visit often and we can watch her babies grow.
Steve planted tomatoes in pots on the bottom patio. They have really grown. He is so proud of them. He filled the pots with with Miracle Grow soil and it is really working miracles with his plants. We are hoping they will last while we are away. We are going to ask a girlfriend of mine to keep an eye on them. There is nothing like BLTs with home grown tomatoes.
This morning, Amelia and I went to the Highline trail to ride. We did the complete asphalt end of it. We did 16. 3 miles. Weeeee us! We got a really late start, and regretted it on the way home. It was really really really hot. Both of us put on sun screen, but sweated it off and burned our faces and arms. Oh, well, that is the price you pay to be "extreme" cyclists. :) We had a wonderful time. The trail was not crowded, and we had a wonderful opportunity to visit. Good times.
My big project for the afternoon was to clean out my closet. Oh, my gosh, I had a lot of stuff. I got rid of several pieces of clothing that was old, faded and needed to be trashed. Now I have room for some new clothes. Just what Steve wants to hear. About a month ago, he cleaned out his closet. I was really jealous that his closet looked so nice that I had to do it too. Glad I did. I have my top shelves to tackle tomorrow and then I will be a new closet woman.
We are watching a new Dual Survivor and enjoying the strawberries we got at the Farmer's Market yesterday. Steve cut them this afternoon, and they are delicious. Now I really will have to ride my bike to coffee tomorrow. :)
