Today was a good day. I woke up and had coffee with a dear friend. We had such a good visit. I hope T and I can go again. It is nice to just sit and relax with a friend.
After coffee, I went to school to run a few errands. I said hello/good-bye to my school buddies. They will be out of summer school when we return, and I probably will not see some of them until Aug.
I did not ride my bike today. It was so hot when I finally got home that I didn't want to risk it. It is amazing how hot you can get if you are not careful. Early morning is the best time. By early, I mean before 9 if possible. Otherwise, it is a scorcher. If you have a slight breeze you can get away with going later. Another key it to make sure you are hydrated before you go and to stay hydrated while you are riding. On days I know I am going to ride, I wake up and just start pushing the water. I constantly drink while I ride...I know can drink and ride at the same time. I know that does not sound like a big deal, but I am the most uncoordinated person in the world and it took me a while to get this skill under my belt. I also make sure that I hydrate after the ride and the rest of the day. Water is best. I put a little lime or lemon juice in my post ride water. Good stuff. Keeping hydrated is also a good thing for Steve. We really push water. We may have 1 soda a day, but that is it. I also like green tea. If you don't drink water, you really should. It will make you feel better. Sometimes if I have a headache, I just drink water and it helps. Also, it helps with hunger. I might just be thirsty instead of needing something to munch on.
After coffee, I picked up Aubree at KW. She was spending the rest of the morning with Oma and Opa. We went to pick up Opa's turkey blind. It was not there. We think the storms might have relocated it. Opa was sad, but not as sad as Aubree. She just couldn't get over the fact that it was not there anymore and all we found were two stakes. After searching the nearby woods, we went to Mc Donald's for lunch. When we got home, we did the white trash swim thing. We put on our suits and hit the hot tub. We, of course, have the temperature turned down so it is cooler than normal. We have an "air mattress" that we float on to catch some rays. Steve even was outside with us about 1/2 hour. He has to be careful with the sun. Some of his medicines cause him to burn easier. We also need to make sure he does not get hot. I am happy to tell you that he did not burn and did not get hot. He and Aubree had a good time floating and playing in the tub. I caught some rays on the side and so did Amelia. I tell you, between the white trash camping and swimming, we have really been enjoying ourselves. Koleen made it home for dinner, and we went off to the buffet at Mazzios.
Steve actually felt pretty good today. He did rest this afternoon after the trip and swimming. I think we are in the good morning/ rough afternoon or the rough morning/good afternoon stage after his chemo. I am just thankful that we have at least 1/2 a day that is good. Pretty soon, we will be into the good whole days. Can't wait. We are counting on those for the trip. :) He has also been in a good mood. I think he is so excited about our trip that he can't help himself. I think he will start packing soon. Worse than a little kid!!!
