Midweek Blues

I just realized that it has been a little while since I posted.   Sorry.  I do have excuses, but I know before I even tell you...they are just excuses.  We have been really, really busy.  No way you say.  Yes, I say.  We went to church on Sunday.  After church I went to Springfield with a friend to meet some new friends.  I had a wonderful time.  They are such fun girls.  I hope I get to do more things with them in the future.  They really helped me.  This weekend, they are going to help me transform an old jumper dress into a new jacket/vest.  I am excited to see how it turns out.  I will work on a before and after picture for you.

Monday was  busy also.  We went to the girls' basketball game at the high school.  We set through almost all of the game.   It was a good game against Springfield Catholic.  It was SR. night.  Steve has been feeling well so he was really excited about going and staying.  He did great at the game.  He really enjoyed the game.  He did some house chores during the day and rested so he wouldn't be so tired for the night.

Tuesday was a running day for Steve.  He went to Grasslands in Monett to turn in some paperwork from Dr. Hoos.  He saw several of his old work mates at the office.  I think he had a good time catching up with them.  I went to the Veteran's Home after school to visit Betty and Mr. H.  They both are doing well.  I met Steve for dinner afterwards, Mexican.  We were going to go to the pizza buffet, but it was really crowded and he didn't feel like fighting the crowd.  After supper, we went home to watch some TV and then we were off to the boy's ballgame.  We arrived in time to see the last quarter of JV and we made it all the way through the Varsity game.  Our best yet.  He really enjoyed the game.  He talked about when he played for the Cubs and what a good player he was.  Now, I have to take his word for it, but those of you that knew him then know the truth.  All I know is that when he was in high school, I would have been in late grade school or middle school.  I would have loved to watch him play.  I would have been the dreamy eyed girl in the stands pretending that when he did well, he looked up in the stands to smile at me.  Wouldn't that have been fun?   We do have an age difference in our relationship. It does not seem like a lot now, but when you put it in the context of a 6th grader and a senior, that is kid of creepy.  HA HA.  I have seen several old pictures from his playing days.   My favorite is the  posed shot of him getting ready to shoot.  He has his little white shorts on and is definitely going to make the basket.  Those were the days before the long basketball shorts.  Sometimes you forget how funny short shorts look.

Today, Steve went to visit a friend from New Zealand that is here for a couple of months.  He went to see him at a farm.  They had a great visit.  I know Steve was so happy to see Zydee.  He sure does miss having him around.  I know I miss Karen, his wife, too.   They are such good people.  I know Steve would love to spend the day with Zydee riding around at the farm, but Steve is afraid that he could not take all the bumps and jolts of riding in a truck around the farm.  Even bumpy paved roads cause him grief.  After dinner tonight, Steve sit in his chair and prepared to watch some Wed. night basketball.  He made it through part of the Duke/Temple game and then had to head to the bedroom.  He has slept though all of the Missouri/Baylor game.  He did comment that he sure wished he had taken a nap this afternoon, but he didn't.  This evening, I sewed a purse.  It is tye-dyed with a cross the body strap.  It was pretty easy.  I started it last night after we got home, but I was to tired to finish it then.  Monday night, I made myself a new Missouri purse.  I completed it in one night.  I am carrying it now.  Nothing fancy, but I am supporting my Tigers.  :)  The good news is the Tigers are beating Baylor with only 1 minute left on the clock.

Shock, Samurai is staring out the our sliding glass door in the bedroom growling.  I sure hope he doesn't bark.  When he does that, Steve about jumps out of his skin.  My guess is Samurai sees some deer in our back meadow.  They come there often at night.  Most times he just does that deep in the throat growl, but every once in a while, he lets loose with a stream of barking, and scares us half to death.  I think he is really laughing inside just to see us jump in bed and have the startled look on our faces.  He is ornery that way.  That might be how he gets his kicks.  :)  I won't complain because other than that, he is a wonderful dog.   He is still a great companion for Steve and they spend a lot of time together.
