Today has been a lazy day for us. We got up and went shopping at Walmart in Aurora. We didn't need much but thought it might be nice to get out for a little bit. Last night, Friday, Steve did not feel so well and went to bed really early. He slept hard all night. After our shopping adventure, he rested the rest of the afternoon. This chemo has hit him hard, again. I think it has to do with the running around the afternoon after chemo and yesterday. We spent all of Thursday in Springfield with the chemo and hospital visit. We were in Springfield all of yesterday afternoon visiting his father. After his nap today, we went downstairs to play a couple games of pool. We purchased a table last weekend. We thought it might be a good distraction for Steve during the day. It does him good to go down stairs and shoot a few balls. It only hurts his side a little. He can play two games before it really starts to bother him. We set out in the family room watching TV and now have migrated to the bedroom. We are watching a show on Hilter. I am guessing that he will be asleep soon.
Grandpa came home today. Michael brought him home late this morning. All is well now. The ride home wore him out but he feels fine. We will probably go and see them tomorrow.
We are supposed to get a "dusting" of snow and some wintery mix tonight. I am hoping it will not mean school will be canceled on Monday. They are predicting a new storm on Tuesday that will drop more than a dusting. It is still early and therefore, they will not suggest an amount. I must say that we have only been in school 9 out of the last 15 scheduled days. I am happy that our school board is thinking of the children when they make their decisions. I feel it is better to be safe than sorry.
I am reading this new book called The Hangman's Daughter. It takes place in the 1600s in Europe. It is about a hangman or executioner. I did not realize that the villages, back then, had a person who had the job to torture or examine criminals. They were also responsible to "put to death" those who were sentenced to death. It is a really good book. It reminds me of the Salam Witch Trials in our history. It is amazing how they believed in the devil and witches. If it stormed and the crops were ruined, they blamed a town "witch" who was usually an innocent woman that the town thought was weird or maybe the town midwife because she used herbs to cure and help the village people. I really like books like this.
