Aubree was baptized at Trinity Lutheran last night. It was a glorious evening. Her godparents that stood up with her were Tia and Kay. Mommy and Daddy were also at the fount with her. The service was very nice and Aubree did a wonderful job. There were several family members and friends present. Here are just a few of the pictures taken. There were millions more but not on my camera. I'll post more if the photographers get them to me.

Wednesday was a busy day for everyone. Opa, Tia, Mommy and Aubree went to Grandma and Grandpa's Wednesday morning to help set up for the cupcakes, punch and ice cream that would be served after church Wed. night. Everything was beautiful. The cupcakes, ice cream, and punch were delicious. Needless to say, everyone was exhausted by the end of the night. Opa was definitely ready for bed, but never so tired he can't get sugar from his Aubree.
Tuesday we went to an appointment with Dr. Hoos in Springfield. It was basically our chemo class. We met with the nurse practitioner . She told us all about the two drugs that they would use for Steve's chemo if he has it done in Springfield. She also told us about all the possible side effects and how we would be able to make them more bearable or cure them. Some of them were very scary to me, but she did offer ways that I would be able to help him. Some were prescription drugs and others were as simple as a homemade salt and soda mouthwash. The really told us way too much information to absorb in one sessions. Luckily, they sent home a huge notebook with the information they told us plus bunches more. I have read through some of it, and it has been very helpful. Amelia and Elizabeth went with us. On our way home, Elizabeth had to stop and get him some protein powder for his protein shakes. They tried it yesterday morning, but it was not very successful. I believe it will need to be tweaked A LOT before Steve really enjoys it. They did tell him that he needed to watch his caffeine intake and limit it to only in the morning. We are switching to decaffeinated coffee as soon as I make it to the store. He is also to avoid sugar. So...no more sweet tea. He can have natural sugars, but not foods with a lot of added sugar. As soon as his treatments start, he will have to be aware of buffets, fresh fruit and salad bars.....anything that has bacteria or is a bacteria magnet. I don't believe it will be very difficult to meet his nutritional needs. I will have to change my cooking habits so they do not include sugar, frying, oil and things like that. I think I am up for the challenge. Who knows, I might get healthy in the process. I do know that trying to fatten him up with the sweets, ice cream....is killing me. We will have to purchase sugar free treats and snacks. It should be easier to change and plan since school will be out for the summer tomorrow at 11:15.
We have another appointment with Dr. P on Friday at 1:30. We are hoping that everything will be well and that he will remove the stitches from Steve's last chest tube. We need to get a couple of refill prescriptions for the trip, but the visit should be short and sweet, she says with her fingers crossed. :)
We have been blessed with a couple of visits from Kay in as many weeks. She was here just two weeks ago and for a few days because of the baptism. She brought her friend, Dot. We had several nice meal and time as a family since everyone was home. Koleen and Dot when to Downstream, but did not return with more money than when they left. It was Dot's first trip and I think she really enjoyed it. Koleen will be home for a visit again in June. Can't wait, sure do miss her when she is gone.
I had a surprise visitor today at lunch. Schyrlet came by to say hello and visit. It was so nice to see her. We had a little chance to catch-up. I sure do miss her at the middle school. She did tell me that I have a fan in her family. A very special hello to Rickie, and I will try to keep more up to date with my news. I know that opening the blog and seeing the same thing can be frustrating. But, just think of it as a rerun like on TV and a new post will be on soon. HA Luckily you don't have to endure commercials. :)
