Happy New Year

Welcome to PeaGoulash 2012.  I know it is Jan. 2, and I am a little late in wishing you a Happy New Year. For this I am sorry.  I hope each and everyone of you have a wonderful year and all your hopes and dreams come true!

Well, I have some catching up to do since is has been several days since my last post.

First things first...
The Doss family will be growing this year.   We are going to have a new little one in Aug.  Yes, Elizabeth and Justin are expecting!  We are very excited!

Steve has been doing quite well since his last chemo.  He has been runnin' and gunnin'.

We went out for NYE dinner.  We had reservations at a Japanese Steakhouse called Hinode.   We have eaten there several times before.  Our reservations were at 4:30, but we arrived a little early and were seated.  We had a good dinner.  In fact, Steven swears that we got more food since there were only six of us at our table.  All I know is he ate almost all of his meal...salad, soup, rice, noodles, vegetables, steak, lobster, and shrimp.   I think he felt like a dog tick as he wobbled out to the car.  I did have a nice take-home sack with leftovers from my meal.  Their leftovers are wonderful.  After that exciting meal, we came home, relaxed in bed, and watched football.  Another night on the wild side at the Doss household :)  I think we were asleep by 9-9:30.

New Year's Day we went to a gun auction in Joplin.  A pawn shop in town was going out of business.  They had about 500 guns.  We didn't stay very long...lost of dealers and high prices.  Steve did get to see a friend that he has not seen in a while.  They got to catch up.  I know that made him happy.  My friend Tom was there too.  He stayed longer than we did, but he did not get anything either.

We have been watching a bunch of college sports.  We have seen almost all of the bowl games.  Some have been worth mentioning and others have not.  We have also been watching several basketball games.  Good times.  Right now, we are watching the Rose Bowl.  I hope the Ducks win.  I have really liked to watch them play the past couple of years.  The score is 38-45 Ducks.  With 7 minutes left, I hope they can keep the lead.  It has been a really good game.

I went to the gym this morning.  Let me tell you that getting up at 4:30 this morning was not pleasant.  I did it though.  I also went to Combat Fit tonight.  Yes, it kicked my butt again.  In fact, for the next several months and possibly longer, you may just assume that I get my butt kicked each time I go.  Thankfully, we did not run all night tonight, but we did do quite a bit of it.  The nice thing right now is, my legs do not hurt...that will come in the morning.  I probably will not go to CF class again until Thursday.  I don't think I can go two nights in a row YET.  I will go to the gym in the morning.  Can't let up on that.

Today we had a professional development day.  Go ahead, ask me anything about student engagement and bullying.  I dare you to ask me a question that I do not know.  I don't think it is possible.  I was not really impressed with the student engagement session.  The bully session was helpful because the speaker was really informative about the law and cases concerning bullying.  He told us several things that teachers can do to protect themselves from lawsuits.  (Wisconsin fumbled and the Ducks recovered. WEEE HEEE)

Oh, Ducks just won the game.  I am so glad.  Now it is going to be the OK State and Stanford game.  I am for OK State in this game.  You know, cheering for your conference rule.  You have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.

Did I mention that I am making a sewing room.  I am converting Koleen's old room into my sewing/craft room.  I am currently painting a desk and shelf.  They are not finished but will be, hopefully, this week.  I have almost everything else how I want it except the desk and shelf.  The room is big enough for my cutting table, ironing board, television, big chair, quilting frame,  and sewing machine to be set up all the time.  I am hoping it will become my hide-away.  You know me, I always have at least one project going.  Since Christmas, I am really behind.  I have not worked on anything since I have been devoting my time to organizing and arranging.  It should be a nice work space when I get it finished.  I will have no excuses now.

I am happy to say that you are caught-up on life at our house.  Not much excitement, but that sometimes is  good thing.  I like a nice, happy, healthy, daily routined life.  Believe me, chaos is overrated.
